Name- Philip Whitlock
height- 6ft 3
Phil started training in Martial arts when he was 7 years old in Taekwon-Do under Master Ray Gayle. He won his first British title at the age of 13. He then went on to win (at the time of writing) 11 British titles in both Taekwon-do and kickboxing.
He competed in his first international event at 14 being picked for the ITF England team to go to the Junior World championships in Argentina where he picked up 2 bronzes and a silver medal. This then set the ball rolling for a prolific international career travelling to countries such as Scotland, Ireland, Korea, Germany, Croatia, Puerto Rico, and Holland; competing in various Internationals, Europeans, Intercontinental and World championships, picking up a number of medals in each as well as being awarded international fighter of the night in 2005 whilst representing the England mens team at the tender age of 17.
In the last few years Phil has been crosstraining a lot to compliment his continuing training such as full contact kickboxing, Muay Thai, Brazillian Ju jitsu and MMA.
Now Phil is concentrating on a career as a professional kickboxer as well as continuing to fight internationally for the world renowned PUMA squad. In 2008 Phil launched his own Taekwon-do school in Bradley Stoke. He teaches children from 4+ and adults. Last year he took over the coaching role at the University of West of England kickboxing team, where he is building a team of semi and full contact fighters (please see links page for details of his school and opportunities to train with Phil).
